Study Boxes

A Study Box is a collection of materials that have a theme.  These materials have been collected in an organized fashion by members of the Region and donated to the Education department.  A typical Study Box will contain the history, materials, stitched samples, and program projects.

Study Boxes may be borrowed for a period of five weeks (including shipping time) by any Chapter or individual within the Region.

The Chapter must send the signed Study Box Reservation Form to the Region Education Chairman, along with a security deposit of $50.00, in the form of a Chapter check, made payable to Pacific Southwestern Region (PSR).  The deposit check will be sent to the Region Treasurer for deposit into the Region's account.  After checking the inventory and condition of the returned Study Box, the Region Education Chairman will request a check in the amount of $50.00, payable to the Chapter, be sent to the Chapter.

Currently, the Region has seven permanent Study Boxes:

  • Beading Study Box:  Beading books, patterns, bead examples - everything beading!  Thank you to Azure Verde Chapter for donating this great Study Box.

  • Blackwork Study Box:  History of blackwork and books about blackwork, stitched samples and program projects with instructions.

  • Florentine Study Box:  Fifty stitched patterns, bibliography and sampler program.

  • Pandora's Box:  Program ideas for new Chapters, including nametag patterns.  Good reference for all Chapters.  All materials may be photocopied for future reference.

  • Hardanger Study Box:  Stitched samples, photos of finished pieces, a four-part teaching program for beginners, and instructions for Hardanger projects and booklets.

  • Pulled Thread Study Box:  Stitched samples (131), pulled thread books, two program projects.

  • Youth Projects Study Box:  Suggestions for teaching young people; instructions for projects with three samples for those projects.
